Jeffersonian constitutional vision, at least in its ideal form, not necessarily in the way that it played out in practice. Chief principle in Jefferson's political program after Republicanism was federalism. If government were left largely decentralized, people who didn't agree about political questions could all be happy because they could all be governed by their own neighbors.
