The Relationship Between Complexity and Capacity for Consciousness
I don't think it's necessary that you need any kind of degree of complexity for a system to be conscious. A big problem is that we even complexity is not very well defined. We've taken mice, you know, anesthetize them, looked at the complexity of brain dynamics and seen that during consciousness, you have high complexity. So I think that those questions are kind of up in the air. Like some of the characters in the book would like Kirk would probably say that.
