The Differences Between Intense and Special Interests
There's actually no deficit in social, emotional reciprocity because there's no trauma. When we see a deficit is really, I think, when we're seeing trauma. If someone presents with what might look like on the surface as an autistic neurotype but can't give any examples of times they've been consumed by something or getting really interested about something and they have no differences in their sensory processing, then I would say it's not autism is something else.
