Fatherhood

I didn't plan to write about fatherhood or my children at all. I was thinking a lot about race and the history of racism in this country, and trying to write personal poems. But i kept returning to my role as a father and witnessing my sons move through these institutions and ultimately be treated in ways that seem inconsistent with how we raise them. So this is such a difficult time for young people in particular, for all of us,. but especially for young people being given the pandamic given the kind of systemic racism that's been very noticeable.
