Senator Fitzpatrick's Fight to Keep Coal-Fired Power Plants in the Pacific Northwest Open
Senator Fitzpatrick has been pushing legislation to make sure the coal-fired power plant in coal strips stays open. One bill that passed imposed a $100,000 fine for every day they didn't pay their share of the operating costs. The bills were declared unconstitutional by the courts in October 2022 but haven't discouraged Senator Fitzpatrick and other lawmakers from fighting to ensure Montana's continued reliance on fossil fuels.
