When it was illegal to force a person of color to do what everything you wanted for free, women were the only ones left to do the work of households. Women took that all upon themselves. And then at a key point, feminism came out and said, yes, you can do this and also do a job that was created for a married man who has a full time, free domestic support staff. "It never occurred to me to be like, what's wrong with culture? Then?" she says.
