Freud's the Oceanic Feeling
This book was one of Freud's entrances into talking about larger cultural questions. He always had this dream being a philosopher, and I think maybe this is the book that most betrays that dream. It shows that he was thinking about that. The whole book is really about disharmony, about the disjunction, the antagonism, the disharmony between the individual and the society. And it's really Freud trying to think through that and all the dimensions of that.
