Climate innovation prizes offer opportunities for innovators from the global south to start making an impact now. Southeast Asia, countries in small high-land states and company countries in Africa are still very marginalized in terms of receiving research into climate change and energy systems. "It feels a little weird to be funding these ideas or researchers when they should just be involved in the traditional funding mechanisms," she says.
