Charlotte Malseed's Story
Charlotte endured childhood in Nazi occupied Slovenia. She fled the Soviet army, setting course for England. In rochdale she picked up work at the cotton mills. Twice a month Charlotte made the eight-hour return bus trip from rochdale to Wakefield prison. The community saw her with sympathy but it didn't take long for people to grow tired. Her incessant proclamations of Stefan's innocence grated on them. Pity turned to resentment and Charlotte was ostracised. For over a decade Charlotte campaigned to have her son's conviction reviewed. A Manchester solicitor named Campbell Malone agreed to look into Stefan's conviction. He put together a small investigation team of two law students
