gal kid mediums are made with alkyd resin and safflower oil so you have a fast drying oil and a slow drying oil formulated together those are really helpful for when into wet all-aprima style painting. because they can actually go back in and blend an edge a day later potentially yeah or a color transition from one color into the next. The main benefit to using something like alkyd is that the oil itself is further along in its drying process.
