John Candy: A Security Guard
National Lampoon's vacation was released on July 29th 1983 40 years ago. Harold Ramis asked his old sc TV buddy John Candy to play a hapless security guard who is based on a bully type character that John Candy had played on sc TV called Paul fist in your face. Anthony Michael Hall has said that the scenes where Rusty looks terrified are 100% real and there's no acting going on. Dana Barron who played Audrey was hit especially hard. She needed to take motion sickness medication and lie down on a bench between takes. Beverly D'Angelo reportedly barely went on it at all and just made her stunt double do it but ultimately it was all worth it because this was the final brush
