Pronunciation of Chinese Words
The word china passed into our language from the portuguese, who in turn may have taken it from the middle persian word sina for the country. On a side note, isn't it kind of crazy that chinese people don't call their country china? I am going to do my darness to pronounce words as accurately as i can in this series.
