We works employees were out of luck. They just sat back and watched the stock plum it in value. One former employee told me they bought a house thinking they'd be able to pay it off by selling their shares. Another said they took out a loan right before the ipo so they could buy their stock early and save on taxes down the road. But once the ipo was canceled, they were stuck with a six figure tax bill.
