"I just feel like lightning has struck twice. I literally felt like, wow, I've gotten to live to a sort of literary memoir career and then now I'm getting to live this business writing career," she says. "There's so much value signaling in evangelical culture that we're always kind of saying ... do we have these little like hint, hint? Are you one of me or aren't you kind of signals?" She adds: "You can't be honest about whatever you struggle with because you'll be seen as weak."
