Mike love and vandyke parks were never going to mix well. Love was angry when Parks could not explain the literal meaning of his lyrics. In every way, from their politics to their attitudes to art versus commerce, they are utterly different people. And brian wilson, who was supposed to be the collaborator for both men, was not mediating between them - he simply couldn't deal with the conflict.
