Tortoises can weigh up to 50 pounds when they're young. Some people buy them for the shell, which is apparently like a rarity that some people treasure. There are international laws against this kind of thing or no? Oh, yes, there certainly are. But it's so easy to smuggle them. So easy, in fact, at six months after that seizure of 10,000 of these animals found in a single house, just six months later, authorities intercepted another shipment of 7,000 more.
