The Effects of Slow Wave Sleep on Elephant Seals

Dolphins and first seals can sleep in just half of their brain at a time. That's called a unihemospheric sleep. And that allows them basically to keep one eye open and help monitor predators while they might be getting the benefits of sleep. There is this documented effect called the first night effect.
