Over 400 different species used to visit the sauten sea. Now our data show that no more than 250 species ar visit in sanse a brown pelican glides by. The dying sea is the main reason the imperial valley has one of the highest asthma rates in the country. A deal between two big regional utilities diverted water that would have ended up in the saltan sea to places like san diego and the cochella valley. And as the water that's left evaporates, it becomes saltier, killing the fish and soon thereill be nothing left for the birds to eat.
