A few years back, my family purchased a ridiculous card game called Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. My sister-in-law came to visit last weekend and I invited her to join in for a round. The first time she won, we said it was just beginner's luck. We call someone who is new to an activity, a noob, or newbie in American English.
