The Relationship Between Film and Aesthetics

I wonder about the relation between film as this disassociative state and other altered states of consciousness that elites love to play with. I read a book by a film critic who was doing the history of surrealism in film. And there's an interesting chapter on the director as God. So if reality is a projection, then it's no different than, you know, a projector projecting a movie onto a screen. Your subconscious is just projecting reality into your space show temporal visual field. It's an illusion, therefore, that there's some separation between the waking and the dream state. Therefore surrealism is true.
