The Central Idea Behind Substack

A lot of people who start Substacks do so because they want to exist outside of institutions. The free press is on Substack and is building a media empire. Would it not work if like a future New York Times came along and started a Substack? Is there like limitations to like that working at all? Or you don't think that's right medium for it?
