The Atonement and Satisfaction
Satisfaction is the idea that when we sin against God, it's not just a test to do with the devil. Even if we were able to reorder ourselves or even if God reordered us, there would still be an offense against God that has to be paid. Hoorowing of hell on Holy Saturday is also really important because that's when we get Adam and Eve are taken out of hell. So these are sort of patristic images of the atonement. Now I want to do a few medieval ones. These are medieval model of the Atonement. The Council of Trent when it talks about these things talks in terms of satisfaction.
