Cleopatra was one of the last ptolemaic pharaohs. Egypt later passed to the byzantine empire after the fall of rome, and then ultimately was conquered during the seventh century c e. She's been slandered and insulted, painted as a manipulative seductress or even a sorceress over thousands of years.
