One of the trickiest ways TikTok can do the brainwashing thing is by association. So if you see something you like, and then you see something else you like, that's how they camouflage things that are no good. They still might try to backdoor some stuff in there, but it's way less aggressive than TikTok. My kids can eat butter cookies at their leisure. Canola oil cookies. We don't want anything to do with them.
