Eliot, Portrait of a Lady where they're talking about going to hear the latest poll transmit the preludes that's Chopin through his hair and fingertips. If you get insulted by something someone else says about you, there is at least a small part of you that agrees with what they're saying. It's virtually impossible to be insulted if not a single fiber of your being if somebody calls me an asshole or whatever. We suck at self assessment. All of us, myself included.
