encryption is a critical component of the internet and often, I think, underappreciated by the general public. Encryption uses mathematical formula to scramble information in such a way that only a particular computer that holds what we call a key can de-scramble the information. Without this encryption, there's a lot of things we wouldn't feel comfortable doing on the internet. We would feel scared that our credit card could get stolen very easily.
