I think caren rothman did a brilliant job of giving us an ashbury who was a child enjoying puzzles, nograms, all sorts of jokes. He's not the difficult guy that you get in biographies of wallace stevens. That was thrilling to him when he was making amcalashes. The cover of this marvellous book, parallel movement of the hands, you can see a shelf of ashburry's pictures and art laid out next to each other. And i think with three or four things on a table, unknown, unknowable, but so beautifully combined together that you could never forget the combination. Do you remember that table, emily? Yes
