The Ghost of James Gatsby
James Gatsby was really or at least legally his name. He had changed it at the age of 17, and at the specific moment that witnessed the beginning of his career. When he saw Dan Cody's yacht drop anchor over the most insidious flat on Lake Superior, it was already J. Gatsby who borrowed a rowboat to help him. The truth was that James Gatsby spring from his platonic conception of himself. His imagination had never really accepted them as his parents at all. They had forgotten me, but Daisy glanced up and held out her hand. No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man will store up in his ghostly heart.
