The Inquiry Into Carbon Capture and Storage
It is incredible to me that it's such a failed technology, and yet we keep seeing Australian governments at all levels support it so thoroughly. Is this inquiry looking into the success or otherwise the viability of carbon capture and storage before it passes this bill? No, they're not. In fact, the content of that inquiry, it was largely focused on coal-fired power stations, but CCS has completely failed on coal- Fired Power Stations. And now it's really being used by the gas industry. So to the extent that that committee's work was relevant in 2007, I think it's pretty questionable.
