Is the NFL Trying to Boost Super Bowl Ratings?
The last four or five years of Super Bowl rating seem to have been fairly flat line in terms of the numbers. There is so much talk of its popularity and how it's such a global event. But in reality, it's dwarfed by something like the football World Cup final, which had 1.5 billion viewers. It's dwarfs by something like India versus Pakistan at cricket, where there's nearly half a billion viewers of these events. So I don't think that that will be too concerning for the NFL. If those numbers start falling off, then that's when they're going to stop being concerned. More than 110 million people tune in towards this game every year in America.
