Bram's Theme - The Most Modernistic Moment of the Piece

This is a moment that truly betrays the dark heart of this movement. Shermberg saw more clearly than anyone how innovative this movement was, and how innovative bram's music was in general. He dubbed this style of writing music developing variation. But as i've said before in other shows about brahms, i like to call it continuous development. I find this moment remarkable, but it has to be brought out by the performers by lingering on those dissonant notes just for a moment.
