The Importance of Form and Platform in China

The term internet sovereignty is a really interesting one. It seems to lend a lot of credence to Chinese government policy, just like how sovereignty is something that so many nations strive for. But then when you actually look at the practices of the Chinese censorship regime, it's definitely not one of sovereignty. They do want to maintain sovereignty when it comes to its own territory, right? But on an international scale, it's very much an extra territorial agenda that they're pushing. So, sovereignty and self-determination on the one hand, but violating internet sovereignty, seeking to influence global discourse on the other.
