Most deep learning models are supervised in some capacity. But oftentimes, if you want it to work really well for your task, you need to still find tune it on your data. The other issue is that as you trade off into the world of more sophistication, as you move more and more towards like these deep neural nets,. oftentimes you lose explainability as a side effect of that. It's sort of another philosophically hard problem.
