Imran cuvadi is a writer and researcher based in cape town. He says the apartat state was hunting for some very specific poisons. They started with chemicals that could be easily converted, he says. The one they seemed to use most of all was a substance called paratheon which is extremely poisonous. Cikani had been poisoned with an organop a chemical used in pesticides. It was one of several poisons with which the apartat security forces were eagerly experimenting.
