The State's Influence on Civil Society

The internet has fragmented media so that we no longer have these big central sites of authoritative news making or other kinds of media. But rather, we have a hundred thousand niches and different demographic led media projects. We also have social media where things can become widely known relatively at random by going viral. The left is facing this and doesn't see that it's within its own interest to create a much more uniform and conformist media environment now than it existed even when there were only two, three networks on TV and three or four newspapers of any import in the past.
