A woman in Sydney lost half of her left side of her nose after a foreign tissue invaded it. A plastic surgeon had to come and reconstruct the nose with cartilage from rib bones. She is now doing well, but she still has chronic nasal problems.

One of the four tissue types of the body, epithelia lines and protects our organs from the external and internal environment. In this episode, Dr Matt & Dr Mike explain how the different shape and layers of epithelia tell you what function it performs (form = functions) and highlight examples in the body where you can find each type. They also explore cancer, metaplasia, dysplasia, and Dr Matt's mums skin cancer diagnosis and surgery.
