The Power of Narrative

There is such power in creating a narrative of our lives. And I think it's particularly important when we've experienced something upsetting or something, like an adverse event. Research shows that the more ways we have of making sense of our experience, the better our mental health and wellbeing. For listeners who are maybe sort of struggling to really start to do that, one thing that I sometimes do with clients is have them do a timeline. So just kind of starting from the beginning to where they are now and connecting the dots.
