The Disconnect Between Virtual Hearings and Access to Justice
The courts were closed during the pandemic, and so there was this quick turnaround by court processes. A large percentage of self-represented litigants said they would like to have virtual hearings. The second statistic which reflected those who had participated in virtual hearings was also quite high in terms of their dissatisfaction with the virtual hearing process that they had been engaged in. Those look very different for self-reps than they do for litigated or for represented litigants.
