For the ancient egyptians death as transition into a more eternal life. Mummification was basically a transformation that makes you go from being just a normal human being into a semi divine individual. And this semi divine person can, of course, live forever. So your body had to be treated in ways and transformed so that it would survive the test of time. There are all these rituals that are associated with birth, because o coming out again. They even have these amulets at a two fingers. Those are the two fingers that, like, a midwife would use to clear out the mucus from a child's mouth. Person who's coming out renewed and fresh.
