Are We Being Contacted?

There are billions of stars in the milkyway galaxy, and millions of em have earthlike planets orbiting them. Why aren't there tons of aliens on our doorstep with a bunt cake say, welcome to the galactic community? Some of these planets were formed billions of years before our planet was formed, and have the conditions that allow them to harbor life as we know it. Maybe they've ascended to a level of being that's just so far advanced in comparison to us at the idea of communicating with uss not even on their radar.
