The Qantas Ransom Ransom Scam
Qantas gave in to Mr. Brown's demands after hours in the air and only around an hour's worth of fuel left. A yellow van would pull up outside Qantas house in Chiffley Square in the city at 5.45pm. The driver would identify himself by shaking his keys out the window. Captain RJ Richie, a Qantas general manager, made the rendezvous to deliver the ransom as he had instructed.
