What's the Consequence of Destroying the Deep Sea?

The deep sea is connected to the shallow ocean through vertical migration. Biomass from the deep sea comes up to the surface and potentially feed organisms that live there. The third type are these hydrothermal vents, which are more like a volcano erupting under water with fluids coming out. And they can be rich in gold and other minerals. It's just chilling to think that those might just be scraped off as a mine when it’s such an international heritage site.
