St. John Paul II: The Body and Its Importance
St. John Paul II said the spousal meaning of the body, which is to say the inherent direction of the body to the other, to the compliment, is now confused. He wrote all this in the 70s, he's all delivered in the early 80s. After original sin, given the alienation of the person from the body, the body becomes, for St. John Paul, a sort of territory of domination. We're always trying to suppress it and keep it in check.
