The Relationship Between Symptoms and MDD
The brain is a yin and yang, isn't it, between excitatory glutamate and inhibitory GABA? In every possible way, in some ways that we didn't even think about it. Increased excessive agglutamate tone tends to be pro-inflammatory. On the other hand, increase in GABAergic transmission tends to have an anti-inflammatory effect. The relationship of symptoms to MDD is not really related to any specific brain area.
