The Characteristics of the Cuneiform Inscription
The object is made of a whitish kind of clay, but actually the clay doesn't look like conventional Babylonian royal cylinder clay. It has inclusions in it, that's to say little bits of stone and this is also very unusual in the royal inscription. The cuneiform sign forms are not quite like normal Babylonian signs of the same period. Sometimes you have signs which are deliberately archaic, so you have modern cursive that you'd use for a business letter.
