The Tragic Death of Parley Pratt
Mitt Romney's great-great-grandfather, Parley Pratt, was murdered in Arkansas. The government now had to deal with the Mormons out in Utah essentially being an open rebellion against the United States. President Buchanan sent 2,500 troops to Utah to remove Brigham Young as governor. But while all this was happening, a tragedy struck the Mormon people that would send shock waves through all of Utah.
