A lot of ar or western harmony comes from church music. The best tunes have a mixture of distance and consonants. Something which is perpetually distant is really is unpleasant. And that's what all western music is pretty much about, bilding tension and releasing it. Sharl says we're different en harmonies, different scales, different appreciations of different combinations of notes.
