I wouldn't quite go that far. I would say for the people who have dedication to an academic life, it does make a difference. It simply applies inappropriately to ten times more people than it suited for. So the one-tenth for which it suited, it's fine. And so I wouldn't say it should be abolished just as it's inappropriately applied to far too many people. Yes. On that topic though, do you think it should theoretically be possible to have a career at the university without having the PhD? Of course, that was so in England when I grew up. That's how I escaped from the trap. Yes.
