The Acute Worst of Her Liver Disease Now Approaching Liver Failure

Is her acute worsening of her liver disease now approaching liver failure, is that essentially an acute worsening of what was going on chronically under the surface? She had some abdominal pain, took too much acetaminophen, and now is coming in with acetaminophen overdose as a cause of acute liver injury. Is this an acute on chronic process that all falls under one diagnosis? Or did she have something causing chronic liver disease and now has something unrelated causing an acute liver failure? Although, obviously, she would have been made more vulnerable by the fact that her liver was already sick under the surface.
