The Rise and Fall of Sir Mixalot
Sir Mixalot was signed to Rick Rubin's Deaf American Records. In the mid-1980s, Mixalot founded his own Seattle label, Nasty Mix. His debut album Swass stayed on the charts for more than a year and went platinum. He already had a sizable following that cut across hip-hop subgenres.
